Fill Up Those Shelves

Don't let this happen to you!

April is DIY (do it yourself) month here at Woodmaster Woodworks! Today, I wanted to share with you a few ideas on how to decorate your custom shelves that we just built for you. There are a ton of benefits to adding custom bookshelves to you home. Not only do they add architectural value and are pleasing visually, they do double duty as storage space for books and display space for accessories. So, let’s make the most of your gorgeous built-in bookcases with these easy to do ideas.

The saying is true sometimes: Less can really be more. Be bold! Be selective! Be decorative! Make a crisp statement with what you choose to put on your shelves. Keep a clean look by sticking to a color scheme for the vases and figurines that you use.

Another great way to jazz up your bookcases is to add printed fabric or a painted pattern to the back wall of the shelves. This immediately creates a unique and textured look to the room.

I would also recommend alternating stacking the books you choose to display horizontally and vertically. Use bold colored picture frames as bookends and make your family portraits pop!

Another great idea for your shelves is to use them to turn them into a photo gallery. Line them with framed photographs! You can even push the books towards the back and keep the photographs front and center!

The added storage space that your bookcases provide is great! And a great way to stay organized and tidy is to use baskets to group like books together (author, color, subject matter) making them easy to find.

Don’t forget! We are giving away a $50.00 gift card to Home Depot to help get you started with that DIY project. Comment below and let us know what you are working on!
